Vacheron Constantin & Maurice Lacroix Launch Unisex Watches
For Vacheron Constantin's 270th anniversay, they've reinvented the 222 stainless steel watch, and Maurice Lacroix debuted their new AIKON Automatic Skeleton
The new year brings two glorious watch releases, and I’m here for both. First up is Vacheron Constantin’s Historiques 222 37 mm stainless steel automatic watch.
Vacheron Constantin
There’s no better way to celebrate a milestone anniversary than to release a new watch. Am I right, or am I right? Vacheron Constantin has hit a milestone - 270 years of continuously creating exacting, luxurious timepieces. Yesterday marked the release of their Historiques 222 stainless steel automatic watch. This is a 37mm that men and women can wear.
This model takes inspiration from the 222 designed by Jorg Hysek in 1977 to celebrate the brand’s 222nd anniversary. The 1970s version had an integrated bracelet and a monobloc case whose movement was fitted from the top. It was (and is, if you’re lucky to own one) water-resistant to 220 meters due to its screw-down bezel.
The new edition has a few improvements. Twin-blade clasps fastened the original bracelet’s joints; the latest version is a triple-blade. The caseback has a transparent sapphire crystal, which showcases the in-house Calibre 02455/2. The 2025 222 is slightly smaller in diameter, 3.6mm thick, which is, let’s face it, really thin. The movement's oscillating weight is engraved with the original 222 logo and edges with a fluted motif that harkens back to the original.
Another change to note is the date window is now towards the center of the face. The hands and hour markers have been coated with Super-LumiNova. During the day, hands and markers look off-white. At night, they’re lime-green in hue.
The case and bracelet are stainless steel. There’s an 18K yellow gold Maltese cross at the 5, and the watch is water resistant to 50 meters.

Maurice Lacroix
Decisions, decisions. Should you pick the Maurice Lacroix AIKON automatic skeleton watch in 37 or 42mm? Black and silver or blue and silver? I guess you could buy them all. Maurice Lacroix just released three new iterations of their popular AIKON watch.
Back in the 90s, Maurice Lacroix released their CALYPSO watch. In 2016, that watch was their inspo for the first AIKON watch. 2022 saw a new AIKON, the 39mm Automatic Skeleton. Today, Maurice Lacroix released three new versions of their popular skeleton watch: Meet the AIKON Automatic Skeleton. This watch comes in the larger 42mm size and a new colorway. While the 2022 version was done in a chic and subtle gray, the 2025 version comes in Maurice Lacroix blue, a maritime blue shade, and the now classic gray.
The watch has a sapphire double reflective coating front crystal, and the back has sapphire glass with an anti-reflective coating. It’s water-resistant to 20 ATM. Indexes and hands are rhodium plated and have white super-LumiNova. The Maurice Lacroix AIKON Automatic Skeleton uses an Automatic ML135 calibre with a 38-hour reserve.
The 42mm is priced at $3950, and the 39mm is $3850.00. If you purchase either watch online, Maurice Lacroix offers an additional rubber strap for free.
